Dr. Girish Rao

Dr. S. Girish Rao is a distinguished Professor and Senior Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He is the Founder and Director of Mukha Facial Surgery & Dental Implant Center and is recognised for his contributions to facial surgery, oral oncology, reconstructive surgery and dental implantology.

Dr. Rao completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) at Government Dental College, Bengaluru, in 1987 and his Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) at Madras Dental College, Chennai, in 1991. He subsequently pursued advanced surgical training in the United Kingdom and obtained fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. He gained specialist experience at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Royal London Hospital before returning to India in 1999.

His clinical expertise includes facial trauma management, corrective jaw surgery, craniofacial reconstruction, oral cancer surgery, facial aesthetics and complex dental implant procedures. He has also contributed to academic teaching, professional training and scientific publications in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Dr. Rao has been associated with the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI) and has participated in national and international professional conferences. In 2025, he received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in recognition of his contributions to the field.
