Dr. Falguni Pati

Dr. Falguni Pati is a distinguished biomedical engineering researcher and academician serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad). He earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and undertook postdoctoral research at POSTECH, South Korea, and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, before joining IIT Hyderabad in 2015.

His research focuses on biofabrication, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, biomaterials, 3D bioprinting and the development of in-vitro tissue, organ and tumour models. He leads the Biofabrication and Tissue Engineering Laboratory (BioFabTE Lab), which develops innovative approaches to producing tissue constructs using advanced bioprinting technologies.

His research interests include developing novel bioinks, 3D-printed tissue and organ models for drug testing and toxicity studies, personalised medicine, and customised orthotic and prosthetic devices. These technologies offer opportunities to advance biomedical research, improve the understanding of human diseases and support the development of next-generation healthcare solutions.

Dr. Pati has contributed to establishing biofabrication education and interdisciplinary research at IIT Hyderabad. His work bridges engineering, materials science and life sciences, encouraging the translation of laboratory research into practical biomedical applications.

His research and academic leadership contribute to India's growing ecosystem of additive manufacturing, regenerative medicine and healthcare innovation.
