Dr. Aratatran Patra

Dr. Aratatran Patra is a prosthetics and orthotics professional and an active contributor to the rehabilitation and assistive technology sector in India. He serves as Vice President of the Orthotics and Prosthetics Association of India (OPAI), the national professional body dedicated to advancing professional standards, education and collaboration in prosthetics and orthotics.

He holds a Master’s degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics (MPO) and is associated with professional activities supporting people with disabilities through prosthetic and orthotic services. His work focuses on rehabilitation solutions, assistive devices and improving functional mobility and independence for individuals who require orthotic support or limb prostheses.

Dr. Patra has participated in national and international professional forums, including the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) World Congress and the Asian Prosthetics and Orthotics Scientific Meeting. He has also contributed to professional education as a resource person for continuing rehabilitation education programmes and scientific discussions on orthotic and assistive devices.

As part of OPAI’s leadership, Dr. Patra contributes to efforts to strengthen professional networking, knowledge exchange, continuing education and the development of prosthetics and orthotics services in India. His engagement with rehabilitation professionals and technology-focused initiatives supports wider awareness of emerging solutions, including digital technologies that can improve the design and delivery of customised assistive devices.
