Dr. AnilKumar P. R

Dr. Anilkumar P. R. is a distinguished biomedical scientist and researcher serving as Scientist ‘G’ and In-Charge of the Division of Tissue Culture at the Biomedical Technology Wing of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), an institution under the Government of India. His research focuses on tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, 3D bioprinting and the development of advanced biomedical technologies.

Dr. Anilkumar completed his Ph.D. in Tissue Engineering at SCTIMST in 2007 and earned an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, in 1997. He has progressed through scientific research positions at SCTIMST, becoming Scientist ‘G’ in July 2022.

His research interests include 3D bioprinting, stem cells, tissue engineering, biofabrication of liver constructs, tissue-specific bioinks, regenerative dentistry, cell-sheet technology, ocular surface regeneration, microfluidic devices and three-dimensional cell culture systems. His work explores the development of functional biological substitutes and innovative platforms for biomedical research and therapeutic applications.

Through his research and leadership, Dr. Anilkumar contributes to advancing India's biomedical technology ecosystem by supporting scientific innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of next-generation healthcare solutions. His expertise is particularly relevant to emerging applications of 3D bioprinting, regenerative medicine and tissue-engineered constructs.
